Roles: owner, admin and member

What owners, admins and members can do in a QuietBill workspace, how to change a role and how to remove someone.

Every workspace has one owner, and any number of admins and members up to the plan’s seat limit. Everyone can see and work on the subscriptions. Admins and the owner also manage the workspace.

Where a member cannot do something, the app shows a note such as “Only workspace owners and admins can invite or remove team members.”

Note: Reminder emails only go to the owner. To keep admins and members informed, turn on Slack alerts, or ask each person to add the calendar feed or switch on browser notifications.

The owner

The person who created the workspace is its owner. The owner cannot be removed or given another role, and ownership cannot be transferred in the app.

Change someone’s role

There is no role switch in the app yet. To change a role, remove the person and invite them again with the new role. Their work in the workspace (confirmed clauses, edits) stays.

Remove someone

  1. Open Settings > Team.
  2. Click Remove next to the person.
  3. Confirm with Remove.

They lose access straight away. Their calendar feed for this workspace, their browser notifications for it and any upload links they created stop working. You can invite them again later.

Admins can remove members and other admins. Nobody can remove the owner, and you cannot remove yourself. To leave a workspace, ask its owner or an admin to remove you.
