This is the single most important idea in QuietBill.
- The renewal date is when the next term begins and you get charged.
- The cancellation deadline is the last day you can give notice to stop that renewal.
They are usually not the same day. If a contract requires 60 days notice and renews on March 15, the cancellation deadline is January 14.
QuietBill computes:
cancellation deadline = renewal date − required notice days
and alerts you against that deadline at 60, 30, 14, and 7 days before it. Every other tracker counts down to the renewal date, which is often already too late.
If a subscription has no notice period (many monthly tools can be cancelled anytime), there is no separate deadline, and we simply track the renewal. The deadline only appears when a clause requires advance notice.
