Cancel a subscription
Use the cancellation assistant to draft the right notice for the vendor, send it before the deadline and record that it is done.
QuietBill does not cancel subscriptions for you, but the Cancellation assistant on each subscription page drafts the notice and tells you how and by when to send it.
Cancel before the deadline
- Open the subscription. The Cancellation assistant is the first panel.
- Read the summary line. It tells you how many days are left, how the vendor requires notice, and the notice period, for example “12 days left. Cancel by written letter, at least 60 days before renewal.”
- Review the draft in Notice to send. Replace the placeholders in square brackets, such as
[Your address]or[your account email or ID]. Your name and workspace name are filled in for you. - Click Copy notice and send it to the vendor the way the contract requires.
- Keep proof: a sent email, a confirmation number or a screenshot.
- Back in QuietBill, click I’ve cancelled this.
You can edit the draft freely. If you want the original text back, click Restore the template.
The draft depends on how notice must be given
| Cancellation method | What the assistant drafts |
|---|---|
| A formal non-renewal email with your account reference | |
| Written letter | A dated letter with address blocks, asking for written confirmation |
| In-app / account settings | Steps to cancel in the vendor’s billing settings |
| Phone | A short script, plus a reminder to note the agent’s name and a confirmation number |
| Account manager | An email to your account manager |
If the method is unknown, the assistant drafts an email. Set the right method in the Auto-renewal clause panel and the draft updates.
Important: The draft is a starting point, not legal advice. Check it against the notice clause in your contract, especially if it names a specific address, recipient or format.
Monthly and quarterly plans
When a monthly or quarterly plan has no notice requirement, the assistant shows a Cancel anytime badge and a How to cancel box instead. Cancel before the next renewal date and the plan stops.
When the assistant has nothing to draft
If the panel says “Confirm the auto-renewal clause below so we know the deadline and method”, QuietBill does not know the notice terms yet. Fill them in and click Save & confirm. See Confirm or correct a clause.
If the window has passed
A Window passed badge means the notice window for the upcoming renewal has closed, so that renewal will still bill. Check the Next renewal date in Details, or contact the vendor to cancel for the following term. See What happens after a deadline passes.
